It’s time to get things moving on the 2017 Spartan Volleyball Season! There is no doubt everyone is ready to get started.

The dates for tryouts are being finalized and are tentatively set for the week of April 17th. Mark your calendars and get ready to bring your best. More details to come.

Here are some “MUST HAVES” to be eligible to try out:
1. ATHLETIC PARTICIPATION, WAIVER, INSURANCE, AND CONSENT FORM completed through Parent Vue. The form is accessible by logging into Parent Vue.

2. Every player must have a current physical to take part in the tryouts. Physicals for athletics during the 2016-2017 school year will be sufficient to try out. However, each player must get a new physical after June 1st. However, there is another option:

The CHS Athletic Trainers are facilitating a Physical Night where athletes can get physicals at a reduced cost and that will be valid through April 20118.

Physical night has now been officially set for April 12th, 2017 from 6pm-8pm SHARP in the Campbell Cafeteria and 600 Hallway. Doors WILL shut at 8pm sharp and doctors will no longer be seeing patients past that time.

The physician has asked the athletic dept to get a rough estimate of how many student-athletes will potentially be attending physical night. Please email Coach Jeff Searcy at Jeffrey.searcy@cobbk12.org by FRIDAY 3/24/17 if you plan on attending. It won’t be a perfect head count but it will give the physicians a rough estimate and allow them to plan a little better.

DON’T MISS THIS: Getting a physical on April 12th will allow athletes to participate in CHS athletics all the way until next April, 2018.

Please, help spread the word to ALL athletes and parents. In addition, feel free to reach out to the incoming 9th graders from Campbell MS and Griffin MS if possible. These physicals will save the parents of the athletes A LOT of money, because the cost is only 25 dollars (CASH ONLY).

The Physicians ask that all the athletes have their parents accompany them for physicals, as it will allow a smoother process and all the appropriate documentation can be signed in a timely manner. Once again physicals will start at 6:00pm and the door will be closed EXACTLY at 8:00pm.

Also just a note based on some physicals that were conducted from various Cobb County Schools:

1. With the new online forms, kids are not being told that they MUST bring all pages (particularly the HISTORY section) and they must be SIGNED by a parent. If they do not have those, the physicians CANNOT and WILL NOT do their physical. Period, no exceptions. Many players at other schools who did not have their forms were turned away.

2. Most students came with only the physical form/clearance form. They did not print the history form. The doctors were uncomfortable performing a physical without being able to see the student’s medical history. Many of the students don’t even know their own medical history and again, if they were alone, this was an issue. If the parent was there, the physicians made copies of a history form and made them fill it out right there. Parents, print everything so that there are no issues.

Lastly, there will be a General Information Meeting for parents and those interested in trying out on Tuesday March 28 from 7:00pm – 8:00pm in the Campbell Commons (Media Center).
